March 1st is the first day of Antioch Unified School District’s citywide Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten enrollment!

 Senate Bill 1381 amends California Education Code (Sections 46300, 48000, and 48010) changing the required birthday for admission to kindergarten and first grade and establishes a TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN, a two-year program, beginning in the 2012–2013 school year.

 Who is eligible to enroll for Kindergarten?

Children who are five on or before November 1, 2012 are eligible to attend Kindergarten for the 2012-13 school year.

 Who is eligible to enroll for Transitional Kindergarten?

Children who are five on November 2, 2012 through December 2, 2012 must attend transitional kindergarten OR begin regular kindergarten the next year (2013-14).

Children who are five on September 1, 2012 through November 1, 2012 will have the option of attending transitional kindergarten OR regular kindergarten.

 Parents may pick up an enrollment packet for kindergarten or transitional kindergarten at their local school site during the hours of 8 am to 4 pm. The enrollment packet contains important forms and information to prepare a child for school. The enrollment forms should be filled out completely.

 If you are not sure of the public school your child should attend, you can find the information at www.antioch.k12.ca.us. Some elementary sites offer a parent orientation for those parents who are enrolling kindergarten students. Please check with your local site for information.
